We are Ceci and Lean
We met while studying Economics at the University of Buenos Aires. We started a family and, after spending twenty years helping Argentine business owners manage their businesses, we decided to start a project of our own.
That’s how HUANACO began. A project that had a name long before we knew what shape it would take.
From the very beginning, we had a clear goal: to build a project with a sustainable approach, becoming part of the value chain of Argentina’s natural fibers.
The journey wasn’t straightforward. Quite the opposite. It was a beautiful path full of surprises, lessons, and challenges that, once overcome, helped us grow deeper roots along the way.
Along this journey, we met farmers who manage their land by following natural cycles, placing animal welfare and environmental regeneration at the heart of their decisions. We also saw an opportunity: to develop hand-knitting yarns in Argentina that combined high-quality fibers, guaranteed traceability, and careful production at every stage.
After two years of planning, construction, and waiting, we finally opened our mill in January 2024.
We began producing yarns designed to preserve the natural qualities of the fiber, with consistent weight, excellent yardage, and the quality that passionate knitters look for.
That’s how Merino de la Patagonia, our first collection of natural yarns, was born.
Since then, we’ve continued learning, exploring new fibers, working with botanical dyes, and meeting people who share our approach to making things.
Today, we’re opening this blog to share a little more of that journey.
We want this to be a space for stories, experiences, lessons learned, and the questions that come up along the way. A record of what we do, the people we meet, and everything that happens beyond each skein.
Welcome to this new space.
